Day
5 and 6 - On our way from Mount Kenya to Shaba, we passed the equator. We made of course some photos, with Frank in winter and Danique in summer part of our planet. The local guide showed us a water experiment to demonstrate the turning of the earth.
We had a very good lunch at a salmon restaurant.
And then the real adventure started... we left the "normal" roads and the coming days we only drive on sand roads. The road has big holes and we will have several flat tires and engine problems. We arrive a little too late at our next stop: Shaba.
The hotel is built on the borders of the river, with some crocodiles and baboons. The rooms are very
luxurious.
The next day we start with a game drive through Shaba. We see our first
water buffalo. zebras and we have a thrilling meeting with a giant elephant on our small sand road.
Around noon, we are back at the hotel and some of our party take a dive in the swimming pool. Some others go for photo-hunting at baboons.
Later that day we make a second game drive and we pay a visit to a Samburu village in Buffalo Springs National Park. On our way to that village, we see a lot of animals and the people of the Samburu village show us some local dances.
That night we go to bed early... we had another wonderful day!
