Traveling through Kenya, you often hear "Jambo"; this means "Hello". And when you enter a building,
then people welcome you with "Karibu" (Welcome). So, now we say to you:
Jambo, Karibu!
During their vacation (summer 2003), Frank and Rene de Vries paid a visit to an orphan's home and two schools in the village
Ukunda.
They were touched by the difficult circumstances of the two schools and
they decided to raise funds for the elementary
schools.
During their vacation (summer 2004), Janet van Wegen and Aldert Glas
visited a school in Ukunda and they too were touched and willing to help.
Back in Holland, they asked some friends to help them and they contacted
Frank and Rene. We decided to team up and we founded the
Foundation Ukunda
Schools Project (2 June 2005).
The purpose of this foundation is to raise awareness about
Ukunda and to give others an opportunity to help the local Ukunda schools.
You can help us with donations. We need your support.
In January 2005 we brought around 1,000 text books, reading books and also
furniture to Mvindeni Primary School. We also made a start with building a
new classroom. Click on the photo below for more information about this
donation.
