Day 11 and
12 - On our way to Elsamere on the borders of Naivasha
Lake we again had a flat tire. The Naivasha Lake is one of the few
fresh water lakes in the Great Rift Valley. It is well known for its
birds and hippos.
We stay the nights at the ecological center Elsamere, former house
of the writer Joy Adamson. She wrote a book ("Born Free")
about her lion Elsa. It is not wise to go out on the fields during
the nights, since hippos will come abroad to graze.
On our second "Elsamere" day we went by boat to Crescent
Island. This island is famous because they made several scenes there
for the movies "Out of Africa" and "Tomb Raider II".
When we were on the lake, we met several hippo's and saw beautiful
birds.
We visited the film set of "Out of Africa" and walked with
giraffes.
During the afternoon, we rested and enjoyed a wonderful lunch and
(later) High Tea.
