Day
15 - 19 - After two days of absolute wilderness
we head to Diani Beach. On our way to the coast, we first
visit Tsavo National Park. This is the largest park of
Kenya. You will find lions, elephants and many other animals
but it is a little harder to see them because the bushes are
higher than in for instance the Masai Mara Park. However, on
some hills you still have a beautiful view on the lava
glaciers.
We visit the Mzima Springs and see some hippos, crocodiles
and some very strange colored monkeys.
Because of the red dust of the Tsavo Park, the elephants
look red. We have some "exciting" moments when one
of our buses has a flat tire next to a group of elephants.
We get covered by the dust too, and later that day we arrive
at the coast of Kenya. We get luxurious apartments in
Diani Beach.
Some of us book jetskis at the desk of Rose Anami. Frank and
René talk a lot with her and she arranges a field trip to
some schools (see Ukunda
Schools Project).
We visit the local shopping center and we made wonderful
trips on the Indian Ocean, did some snorkeling around Wasini
island and saw beautiful coral reefs.
