Game ranch Athi River

Day 1 and 2 - We flew directly from Amsterdam (The Netherlands) to Nairobi (Kenya). We had a night flight. The flight was 8 hours. Our Dutch guide was waiting for us on the airport. She took us to the minivans. We drove for about 90 minutes to the wild life ranch in Athi River. Our rooms were small cabins. We brought our suitcases to the cabins and then we had a wonderful breakfast.

After breakfast, we hiked in the neighborhood and we met our first giraffes. Later that day we had a game drive: the roofs of the minivans opened, so we could stand in the minivans and could make photos of the wild animals. At the ranch live more than 1,500 wild animals, mostly antelopes. With a little patience you will be able to count more than 300 different birds. Here is an overview from some things we saw that day.

We made many photos of our first giraffes, not knowing that we would see hundreds of giraffes during our vacation.
